Problems from topology about geometric groups
by

I'll describe some problems from topology that suggest interesting questions about geometric constructions with groups. The topological problems involve surgery and K groups, and Novikov and Borel conjectures. The group questions include refinements (possibly "quantum" or "noncommutative") of the boundary of a group, ways of filling in the boundary, and boundaries that are homology manifolds but not manifolds.
