We discuss the application of Tsallis or nonextensive entropy, as well as Shannon (Boltzmann-Gibbs-Shannon) entropy, to image retrieval. We also look at Rényi or generalized entropy in the context of signal modelling using Gaussian mixture models. In all cases we employ the wavelet transform.
