Adaptive Filter Applications In Surface Photometry of Galaxies

We expose the need for filtering in surface photometry and the variety of filters used. We present the essence of adaptive filtering and its advantage over the alternatives. Illustrations of the 2-dim adaptive filter applications for smoothing and intervening objects cleaning in galaxy images are produced.
