We describe the dynamical behavior and topology of Julia sets of iterated meromorphic functions, focusing on the Weierstrass elliptic P function. We show the dependence of the dynamics on the period lattice and describe the different types of Julia sets that can occur, ranging from Sierpinski carpets to the entire sphere. We also describe a new type of Fatou component, called a toral band, that arises in this setting. Results from a series of 3 papers will be surveyed in this talk.
