Gluing techniques and asymptotic dimension
by
Greg Bell
Penn State University

Several authors have made use of a gluing technique to prove that certain groups posess a particular asymptotic property, e.g. finite asymptotic dimension, C*-exactness, etc. Using asymptotic dimension as an example we will demonstrate the technique and indicate a new application of it to the asymptotic dimension function of a finitely generated group.
