Local Compactness of the Hyperspace C(X)

Given a metric space X, we analyze local compactness of the hyperspace C(X) of closed, connected subsets, with the goal of obtaining a characterization for local compactness of the hyperspace. We generalize previously established necessary and sufficient conditions, and propose a possible characterization.
