On a Machine of Wage and b-normal spaces

A space X is b-normal if for any two disjoint closed subsets A and B of X there exist open subsets U and V of X such that AÇU is dense in A, BÇV is dense in B, and cl(U)Çcl(V)=Æ. There are only a few known b-normal non-normal spaces, only one of which is constructed in ZFC. We will show how a machine of M. Wage can be used to produce b-normal non-normal spaces in ZFC and b-normal non-normal Moore spaces under stronger axioms such as the continuum hypothesis.
