Transcendental Numbers from the Last Non-Zero Digits of n! and Fn
by
Greg Dresden
Washington & Lee University

In an earlier article, "Two Irrational Numbers From the Last Nonzero Digits of n! and nn " (Mathematics Magazine, Vol 74 (#4) October 2001, pp 315-319), we studied the decimals formed from the last non-zero digits of the sequence of factorials and the sequence of powers. These numbers were shown to be irrational. Now, we show that for n! and Fn (the Fibonacci numbers), we will get transcendental numbers. (The original 2001 article can be found on my website, http://home.wlu.edu/ dresdeng/ ).
