The Newton fan associated with an ideal
by

Let I be an ideal of the ring of formal power series K[[x1, ..., xn]], K is a field. If n=2 and I=(f) is a principal ideal, then we can associate with f its Newton polygon. This notion is very useful in the study of the singularity of f. In this talk, we shall show how to generalise this notion to an arbitrary ideal. We shall also give some applications.
