Quaternion analytic methods for the treatment of Oseen' s equation
by
Wolfgang Sproessig
TU Freiberg, Germany

Let G Ì Rn (n ³ 3) be a bounded domain with smooth boundary G. We consider the following IBV-problem
rt u-nDu+(rv·grad)u +div p=f    in    G

div u=0   in    G

u=g   on    G,
which was obtained by C.W. Oseen by linearization of Navier-Stokes equations. Here v describes a solution of the corresponding Stokes system, r is the density of the incompressible fluid and n the dynamic viscosity. After semidiscretisation by the aid of a quaternionic operator calculus an iterative method will be derived.
