Cutting times and subcontinua of unimodal inverse limit spaces
by

The theory of inverse limit spaces of unimodal interval maps f is a challenging subject. The case where f has a finite critical orbit has been classified, but only scattered strategies are available to tackle the infinite critical orbit case. In this talk I want to discuss how the combinatorial information (in particular the tail of the sequence of cutting times) can shed light on the nature of subcontinua present in the inverse limit space, using methods developped in a joint paper with K. Brucks. It leads e.g. to a complete list of subcontinua present in the inverse limit space of the Fibonacci unimodal map.
