Spaces for which the Hewitt realcompactification commutes with the P-space coreflecttion I.

We will show how the question of the title arises in studying certain problems in rings of continuous functions, and in natural algebras which are epimorphic extensions of C(X) in the category of rings. This will be followed by some elementary results and examples of spaces in which this commuting occurs.
