A Nonparametric Test for Scale in Univariate Population Setup

We propose a new test for the equality of the variances of two populations. We compare the power using Monte Carlo simulation technique with Siegel-Tukey test (1960), and Levene’s test (1960). Simulation studies show that the proposed test performs better then the Siegel-Tukey’s test, and the Levene’s test under almost all the considered distributions in the study. We calculated the asymptotic relative efficiency of the proposed test and found to be good under non-normal cases. We applied the proposed test to given data to show the working of the test.
