Derivation of Several Stochastic Partial Differential Equation Models
by
Edward Allen
Texas Tech University
Stochastic partial differential equation (SPDE) models are derived from basic principles for several randomly varying physical systems. An SPDE model is derived for fibers undergoing breakage such as in the ginning and carding of cotton fibers. An SPDE model is derived for energy-dependent neutron transport in a homogeneous medium. Finally, an SPDE model is derived for a vibrating string which is experiencing random impulses.
