Open Problems on Degrees of Constructibility of Reals
by
Marcia Groszek
Dartmouth College
Define the degrees of constructibility, or c-degrees, of reals as follows: X is constructible in Y if X is in L[Y], and X and Y have the same c-degree if each is constructible in the other. The c-degrees under the induced ordering ïs constructible in" form an upper semi-lattice. This structure is trivial in some models of set theory, and extremely complex in others.
We discuss some long-standing open problems concerning the c-degrees of reals.
