Spectral Theory for the Maxwell System of Equations
by

This talk will present spectral properties for the Maxwell system of equations in nonsmooth domains. In particular, by employing a Rellich identity we show that the spectrum of the naturally associated integral operator, acting on on the space of square integrable functions on the boundary of the domain, lies in the interior of a hyperbola. The shape of this hyperbola depends only on the Lipschitz constant of the domain under consideration. The spectral theory results are then used to construct generalized Neumann series and study their rates of convergence.
