In order to improve spatial order of accuracy, the Richardson extrapolation method is extended to numerical solvers of partial differential equations. The method in one dimension has been described and applied to several cases. This method is extended to two dimensional finite volume solvers on unstructured triangular meshes with specific application to the shallow water equations. The method of manufactured solutions is used to verify the results and actual physical examples are presented.
