In this paper, we obtain theorems on the existence and uniqueness of solution for iterative functional equations of the type

å
i=1
li(x)Hi(fi(x)) = F(x), x ∈ [a, b]
 where Hi’s and F are given functions and li’s are nonnegative functions such that ∑i=1 li(x) = 1 on [a, b]. Our theorems generalizes those due to Baker and Zhang (2000). Stability of the solution is also discussed.
