Random phase approximation with exchange for the open-shell atom photoionization
by

A random phase approximation with exchange (RPAE) method, which allows the inclusion of both the intra-shell and inter-shell correlations in photoionization calculations, has been developed for the atom with an open-subshell. The method has been used to study the Xe^+ and I^+ 4d 5s, and 5p photoionization. It is found that the cross sections of the 5s and 5p increase dramatically by the inter-shell correlations of the 4d giant resonance.
