Physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling: overview and statistical issues
by
Martin Klein
University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling (PBPK) is used to simulate the time course of a chemical and its metabolites through the body. The PBPK model itself consists of a set of differential equations that have no closed form solution. In this talk I will describe some applications of PBPK modeling and then describe the statistical analysis of pharmacokinetic data using a PBPK model. Finally, I will describe some of the challenges and considerations involved in this statistical analysis.
