We compute the radial distribution of those zeros of derivatives of characteristic polynomials of random unitary matrices lying close to the unit circle, confirming a refined version of an earlier conjecture of Mezzadri. Assuming GUE (unitary) statistics for the zeros of Zeta, we also compute the corresponding horizontal distribution of zeros of Zeta prime lying close to the critical line.
