The fourth maximal energy of acyclic graphs

The energy of a graph is defined as the sum of the absolute values of all eigenvalues of the graph. Recently, Gutman, Radenkovi\'c, Li and Li [Extremal energy trees, MATCH Commun. Math. Comput. Chem. 59 (2008) 315-320] conjectured the acyclic graphs with the fourth-maximal energy among n-vertex trees. In this paper, we show that this conjecture is true.
