Embedding metric spaces into Banach spaces

We will present a survey of some recent developments in nonlinear Banach space theory. We will explain some of the reasons for current interest in the general problem of embedding metric spaces into specific types of Banach spaces, such as Hilbert spaces or uniformly convex spaces.
