A new analytical solution has been developed for the 2-D advection – dispersion equation (ADE) in a semi-infinite and laterally bounded domain (parallel plate geometry). Uniform flow through a saturated porous medium has been adopted to model contaminant transport through the domain. The general solution was obtained by the application of Cosine Fourier Series for the transversal domain, the application of the Laplace Transform in regard to the temporal dimension and the introduction of a Jacobi Theta Function. The analytical solution here provided has been derived solving a particular case in which the inlet conditions (Dirac) and the boundary ones (Dirichelet, Neumann and mixed types) were fixed.
