Bounded sets in topological groups

We report on some results about the structure of differenct classes of bounded sets on a metrizable topological group. Among other results, the cofinality of different systems of bounded sets is estimated and some applications are given to the topological structure of the group. Along this line, we apply methods from Pontryagin duality in order to estimate some topological cardinals (character, weight, etc.) for several classes of topological abelian groups.
