We prove the result in the title. This shows that a proof of Gary Gruenhage that monotonically compact LOTS are metrizable (an year-old proof, compared to his more recent one that all monotonically compact Hausdorff spaces are metrizable) also works for monotonically countably compact LOTS. We do not have an example to distinguish between monotone compactness and monotone countable compactness.
