The geometry of arithmetic hyperbolic 3-manifolds

This talk will survey results and discuss some ideas in proofs of how far the structure of the set of closed geodesics (resp. totally geodesic surfaces) in an arithmetic hyperbolic 3-manifold "determines the manifold".
