Young Measure Minimizers in Nonlinear Membrane Theory

The integral representation of a relaxed functional arising in nonlinear membrane theory is obtained in terms of Young measures. The main ingredient of the proof is a decomposition result for scaled gradients arising in a 3D-2D dimensional reduction analysis in the context of nonlinear elasticity where oscillation and concentration effects are separated.
