Time is critical! A multilayer reaction diffusion solution

Invasive plant spread is commonly modelled using a logistic reaction diffusion equation, however homogeneous regions are usually assumed. We consider heterogeneity through the use of multiple layers for a linear reaction diffusion equation. An analytical solution is found for a single reactivity throughout the region, which is then used to find a critical time. Numerical solutions are found for the more complicated case of different reactivities in each layer, where critical times are further explored.
