A class of minimally almost periodic groups.

Minimally almost periodic groups are those topological groups which do not admit a non-trivial continuous homomorphism to a compact group. This presentation focuses on a particular property we call SSGP for "small subgroup generating property", which seems to be the key barrier to such homomorphisms in several early Abelian examples of minimally almost periodic groups. We examine the preservation properties of SSGP groups and we determine some basic abelian groups which admit SSGP topologies and some which do not admit SSGP topologies.
