Description:
The Euroconference is financially supported by the TMR-program of the European Union. Special funds are available for allowing young researchers from member states of the European Union to participate. The developments in Representation Theory of Algebras in recent years show that one of the main keys for understanding and pursuing further this theory is the use of methods of homological algebra. The conference at Ioannina will inform and educate graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and interested researchers on these homological methods. The main body of the participating scientists will be from the ten groups collaborating in the network "Invariants and Representations of Algebras". The conference will have a duration of five days. There will be six introductory mini-courses each consisting of three 50-minute talks. These lectures will be devoted to illustrating the use of homological methods in representation theory of finite-dimensional algebras (in particular: tame algebras) and cohomology and representations of finite groups. The ideas and methods presented in the introductory lectures will be further developed in nine advanced lectures of 50 minutes each. The aim of the conference in Ioannina is to serve as a platform for communicating the latest ideas, developments and results in Representation Theory of Algebras in relation to homological algebra. Especially younger EU-scientists residing in the outskirts of EU should benefit very much from this meeting. In addition, it is worthwhile to note that the event will take place in one of the less favoured regions of Greece, which entirely belongs to the less favoured regions of EU.
