Description:
The purpose of ECCAD is to stimulate interest in and enhance understanding of the technical aspects of computer algebra, by providing a way for those who are active or interested in becoming more active in computer algebra to meet with each other.

The meeting have three invited speakers who have made outstanding contribution to the field of computer algebra. The invited talks and contributed poster/software demo sessions are expected to cover the breadth of computer algebra: algorithms, software, and applications.

Topics to be Covered: Computer Algebra System: requirements and challenges for next generation Computer Algebra System; current trends in symbolic computing - languages capable of dealing with a wide class of mathematical domains and specialized packages developed for specific domains capable of plugging into a general purpose CAS with highly developed graphical and numerical capabilities, able to run in a distributed environment. Applications of Computer Algebra Systems: novel applications in research in areas ranging from theoretical physics to biological modeling; the emergence of Computer Algebra Systems as tools in education, their relevance and how they need to change to become more effective. Recent Algorithmic Advances in Computer Algebra: specifically in polynomial system solving, symbolic integration, factorization, quantifier elimination over real closed fields, solving huge sparse/structured linear systems, parallel and distributed algorithms in symbolic computation.

Speakers: Peter Borwein, Gaston H. Gonnet, Lakshman Y. N.
