Description:
ICSM is the major international conference in the field of software and systems evolution, maintenance, and management.
International business competitiveness is dependent on huge quantities of already installed, legacy software. To remain competitive, companies and organisations have to be able to change their business processes. The modification, improvement, and maintenance of their software makes this business change possible. Sometimes the required change is radical and revolutionary, but more often the required change is incremental. For these changes, a major systems engineering problem arises -- cutting the cost, delay, and risk involved in changing the installed software to meet the changed business requirements.
ICSM '99 addresses solutions to this major problem. The focus of the conference is to explore the opportunities of software change, to overcome the disabling effects of the build-up of legacy systems, and to release the full potential of software as an enabler of business change.
Papers should describe original and significant work in the research and practice of software maintenance. Papers must not have been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Papers related, but not limited, to the following topics are invited.
Business Process Change and Maintenance Software Modernisation Software Re-engineering and Restructuring Software Maintenance Measurement Empirical Studies of Maintenance Activities Software Documentation and Standards Configuration Management Software Change Verification and Validation Software Maintenance Testing Process Modelling, Improvement and Assessment Software Change and Impact Analysis Software System Migration and Conversion Reverse Engineering COTS Application Maintenance End-user Maintenance Component based software maintenance Y2K Conversion and Testing Formal Methods in Maintenance Program Comprehension Designing for Ease of Software Evolution New Approaches to Software Maintenance Visualisation Legacy Systems New Technology Maintainability Models of Business Processes which can be shared between System Engineers and Business Analysts Risk Analysis Information Systems
Papers describing collaborative projects between systems/software engineers, and business process analysts and IS professionals will be welcome.
