1st Workshop on Inverse Problems in Underwater Acoustics

May 17-19, 1999

Heraklion, Crete, Greece

Mathematics

Host: University of Crete
Sponsor: FORTH,IACM
Homepage: http://orfeas.iacm.forth.gr/taroud/inver1.htm
Email: mariapap@iacm.forth.gr

Organizers: Michael Taroudakis, George Makrakis

Deadline for abstracts: March 31, 1999

Description:
The objectives of the Workshop is to bring together scientists interested in theoretical issues of inverse problems arising in science and engineering, with people working with specific applications in underwater acoustics, associated with inverse problems, such as target recognition, sea-bottom characterization, ocean acoustic tomography etc. The workshop will facilitate discussions related to the mathematical foundations of the methods used for inverting acoustic data and will aim towards the assessment of these methods from both the theoretical and technological point of view. The workshop will also help to define aspects of inverse problems that need further research.
