Description:
Seven institutions received major National Science Foundation awards to "promote systemic improvements in
undergraduate education by increasing student understanding of and ability to use the mathematical sciences."
These institutions and their more than 40 award affiliates will showcase their first three years of work in the MATC Workshop at Indiana University, Bloomington, on July 9-10, 1999.
If you want to find out about this burgeoning area of multi-disciplinary course development and what you can do to get involved, your attendance at this workshop is a must.
Learn how mathematics and statistics are being integrated into courses in the liberal arts, engineering and science. Learn how examples from other disciplines are being used to reinvigorate college algebra, calculus and differential equations. Learn how other faculty members are using technology in their courses. Learn how your colleagues in other institutions have have worked with fellow faculty members and administrators to promote systemic change.
If you are already working on interdisciplinary teaching approaches and materials, showcase your own results in a poster display that will be open for the duration of the Workshop.
