This is the ninth in a series of conferences on mathematical physics initiated by Abdus Salam in 1984. The "region" now includes Armenia,
Azerbaijan, Georgia, India, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. Starting with this meeting it will include Egypt, Greece, Israel and
Lebannon as well. These meetings have been realized through the support of ICTP and UNESCO.
The pricipal areas of discussion will be string field theories, M-theory, conformal field theory and general relativity.
