Description:
A new series of Symposia in Theoretical Computer Science was launched in 1992, to be held in a Latin American context: LATIN (Latin American Theoretical INformatics). This effort was done in cooperation with SIGACT, EATCS, the IEEE Technical Committee on Mathematical Foundations of Computing, IFIP's new Specialist Group on Foundations of Computer Science and some Latin American Computer Societies.

Typical, but not exclusive, topics of interest for LATIN'2000 include: algorithms; analysis of algorithms; automata theory; coding theory; combinatorics (designs, enumeration, optimization, structures); computability and complexity; computational biology; computational geometry; computational number theory; computer algebra and symbolic computation; cryptography; data compression; data structures; discrete mathematics; experimental algorithmics; formal languages; graph theory; logic in computing; mathematical programming; on-line problems; pattern matching; parallel and distributed algorithms; programming theory; quantum computation; and random structures and algorithms.
