Description:
The goal of this 2-day workshop is to discuss progress and challenges in modeling and analysis of optical devices. Workshop participants will consist of industry representatives and applied mathematicians from academia. The goal is to provide a snapshot of the state-of-the-arts, and to discuss the open problems, challenges, and industry needs that remain. Topics to be addressed in the workshop includes: nonlinear optics, optical waveguides, optimal design, diffractive gratings, fibre-optical couplers, amplifiers. The workshop should articulate current research direction and open problems, and provide directions for future research in this important area.
The format of the workshop will be presentations and discussions. The workshop has been designed to be small and informal to maximize the opportunities for collaboration.
