The aim of the course will be to present some of the basic ideas and techniques in algebraic and geometric topology and to give an indication of the ways in which topological ideas figure in many different areas of mathematics: for example in algebraic geometry, differential geometry, global analysis and even theoretical physics.

Speakers: E.G. Rees (Edinburgh), J.D.S. Jones (Warwick), R. Kirby (Berkeley)
