Description:
An international conference on the general subject of the scientific and cultural role of Mathematics in the history of civilization, and in the future development of mankind, will take place in Macau, China, January 11-14, 2000, in the framework of World Mathematical Year 2000.

The conference will consist of invited lectures, round tables and communications in mini-symposia on the topics:

Comparison of the role of Mathematics in different cultures, Exchanges and interactions of the East-West mathematical cultures, The role of Mathematics as a driving force in human progress, Contributions of Mathematics for sustainable economical, industrial and social development, Mathematical research, education and popularization in diverse cultures, Mathematics in the future of civilization and its role in the Information Society.
