Description:
This course offers an up-to-date overview of major advances, emerging trends, projected developments and industrial applications in the field of design optimization. The main goal is to improve the integrated process and product development with these so-called "emerging methods" in the sense of concurrent engineering and rapid prototyping. The lectures cover the following topics: (1) multidisciplinary optimization, (2) combinatorial optimization, discrete optimization, (3) Design-of-Experiments methods, and (4) function approximation concepts.
