Description:
Professors Daniel W. Stroock and Srinivasa S. R. Varadhan have made many fundamental contributions to a wide range of topics in probability theory and analysis including large deviation theory, Malliavan calculus, interacting particle systems and hydrodynamic limits. This conference at Courant, where they jointly developed the martingale approach to diffusion processes in the 1960's, will celebrate their sixtieth birthdays.
