Description:
As part of World Mathematical Year 2000, the ANU School of Mathematical Sciences will hold a 2-day conference at which well-known Australian mathematicians will explain (for the benefit of the educated public) some of the most interesting ideas and applications of our subject. Students, colleagues, interested parents and other members of the public will all be welcome, and the mathematical level will be suitable for such an audience. The aim is to alert the community to the importance of Mathematics in our lives, amd encourage school students to enrol in University courses in Mathematics and the Mathematical Sciences.
