Description:
As part of the fall program in Algorithmic Number Theory, MSRI will a host a one-week workshop on arithmetic geometry, December 11-15, 2000.

The workshop will focus on the development of explicit and computational methods in arithmetic geometry, as well as the complexity analysis of existing algorithms.

Topics include (but are not necessarily limited to) computational aspects of the following:

1.determination of rational points on curves and higher dimensional varieties 2.Mordell-Weil groups of elliptic curves and other abelian varieties 3.Selmer and Shafarevich-Tate groups 4.isogenies, endomorphism rings, and torsion subgroups of abelian varieties 5.minimal proper regular models of curves 6.Néron models and conductors of Jacobians 7.equations for modular curves and Shimura curves 8.function field analogues of all the above 9.zeta functions of curves and other varieties over finite fields.
