Description:
The National Committee for the Celebrations of the First Centenary of Verdi's death, together with the Istituto Nazionale di Studi Verdiani and the American Institute for Verdi Studies, are jointly organizing an International Conference, the first phase of which will take place in Parma (24-27 January 2001), the second in New York and New Haven (29 January-1 February 2001). The conference will be arranged around a series of round tables, each with a position paper and respondents invited by the Scientific Committee; there will also be free papers, grouped under common themes. The Scientific Committee now invites proposals for free papers, around twenty of which will be selected for presentation at the conference. Proposals should contain the title of the paper, an abstract of not more than 250 words (in Italian or English), and a brief cv. Proposals will be particularly welcome if they address the diffusion and reception of the music of Verdi, or his changing image as a composer - whether during his lifetime or in subsequent periods up to the present day.

Date received: November 16, 2000
