Description:
An interdisciplinary symposium on 17th- and early 18th-century French and English drama and opera, and will incorporate the Oxford Annual Dance Symposium, 'Gods, men and monsters' will emphasise the monstrous in opera, drama, theatre and dance.

Among the keynote speakers will be the Charpentier scholar John Powell, and events will include dance realisations by Airs and Graces, and a performance by 'The Band of Instruments' of the music to Corneille's *Andromede* and to *Polieucte.*

Papers on a range of topics - including genres, on myths in opera and theatre, choreography, and on theatre music - would be welcomed.
