Description:
Changes in the educational environment and in technology in general are providing both opportunities and challenges for further and higher education.

Issues faced include:

Increasing emphasis on life-long learning Developments in e-education Changing funding regimes for education Students as paying customers

An awareness of these issues within the context of rapidly changing technologies is central to strategic planning.

The JISC's Technology Watch activity aims to identify emerging developments in Information and Communications Technology that may have implications for the activities of higher and further education.

The main theme of this event is one of forward thinking on institutional change and technology use, including developments in e-universities and e-business. Much is written and discussed about these topics but real change is patchy. The JISC is keen to aid understanding about these issues and stimulate community wide discussions. This one day seminar will provide a starting point for such discussions.
