Description:
Finite volume, high-resolution, upwind and centred numerical methods for hyperbolic and parabolic evolutionary partial differential equations (PDEs) have been the subject of intensive research activity for more than half a century, with remarkable advances in the last two decades or so. These methods have by now reached a stage of maturity and are beginning to play a central role in numerical technological transfer to industrial and research centres concerned with technological and scientific problems. This short course is intended for scientists and engineers in Industry, Research Laboratories, Consultancy and Academic Organizations who are involved in solving practical problems that are modeled by linear and non-linear systems of hyperbolic conservation laws and their extensions, such as the compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Scientists in managerial or decision-making positions might also find this course on modern numerical techniques and new trends beneficial.

Speakers: Professor E. F. Toro
