Description:
This workshop aims to bring together the community of engineers,
mathematicians and others working on the development of algorithms for
solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in complex
geometries using a velocity/pressure formulation and a spectral method
for the spatial discretisation.
The purpose of this meeting is to define the state of the art in this domain and to take stock of existing efficient algorithms for the numerical simulation of unsteady flows in simple or complex geometries arising in problems from applied or theoretical incompressible fluid mechanics. Since algorithms for computationally intensive applications are evolving vigorously, particular attention will be devoted to methods allowing a decoupling between the pressure and velocity which are well-adapted to parallel computation (spectral element methods).
The final objective of the workshop is to address the advantages and possible pitfalls arising with the application of spectral methods to problem in complex geometries.
