The MCSEAI'02 is the seventh Maghrebian conference related to the software engineering and the artificial intelligence. It was initially intended to only two these fields, that?s why it?s called: the MCSEAI (Maghrebian Conference on Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence). But through the thread of years, this biennial conference enlarged the themes treated seeing the computer system evolution, and welcomed a larger community to participate. It constitutes a forum for researchers, practitioners and industrials to share their experiences, exchange their ideas, and strengthen their theoretical knowledge in order to improve and promote the computer technology practice. It remains the most important international scientific manifestation in the Maghreb. The previous editions were held respectively in 1989 at Constantine (Algeria), 1992 at Tunis (Tunisia), 1994 at Rabat (Morocco), 1996 at Algiers (Algeria), 1998 at Tunis (Tunisia) and 2000 at Fès (Morocco).

This seventh edition will permit to situate the state of research in the Maghreb, to assess the Maghrebian contribution through the world and confront its experience to the contact of the international scientific community.
